Wii U Pro Controller [pre-E3 info]

Wii U Pro Controller Revealed
During Nintendo Direct 6-3-12, Nintendo has revealed that the Wii U will support a traditional controller as well. No price was reveled, but here is a picture that …
The project promises quite a bit, especially for driving down the cost of producing games. With developers always claiming that they need DLC to cover the cost of game development, this may provide an alternative. It could also allow people that can't afford to make games the means to do so. However, anything that promises to be so good should be approached with skepticism. We can't be sure this thing is even going to succeed if it gets off the ground. I'm also not sure if the games that can be made under such a system are going to appeal to everyone. I'm not exactly sold on it myself. Then there is the matter of digital vs physical games which can divide many people.
So what are everyone's thoughts on this?

I haven't heard much more news on this thing. That doesn't seem like a good sign.
